Country coordinators being closer to the members than the secretariat, can contribute towards improving the performance of the association, by undertaking the following roles:
- Facilitate the establishment of formal or informal local chapters, and development of MOUs with at least one institution, in their respective countries
- Liaise with the Secretariat to convene annual meetings of national WIOMSA members; inform the Secretariat of the meeting outcomes and organize election of a Country Coordinator every three years
- Submit annual estimates of budgetary requirements to WIOMSA Secretariat to be supported by proposed expenses
- Initiate and facilitate electronic discussion groups
- Report to the secretariat on the actions taken towards promoting in their countries the resolutions and recommendations of the General Assembly
- Promote WIOMSA with the view of increasing its membership ( recruit new members), also keep members informed of important activities in WIOMSA
- Distribute membership forms, MARG application forms, WIOMSA Logo and leaflets to members and their visitors
- Act as national focal points for WIOMSA projects
