Lobby faults EPA deal on fisheries

The fisheries component of the interim Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA) which East African Community (EAC) countries and the EU showed commitment to in late 2007 is flawed and could lead to massive losses for developing nations, a new report has shown. Though officials at the Trade ministry have repeatedly defended the interim deals as being watertight, the report published by the Geneva-based International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) says the region risks losing out from the pacts unless amendments are effected.
